Global variables in Textpattern

edit:THIS IS OLD AND BASED ON TEXTPATTERN version g1.19

A lot of links in the textbook seem to point to this location as a good resource for global variables in textpattern.

http://rise.lewander.com/textpattern/94/txp-global-variables

i’ve noticed its been non-functional for quite a while but this appears to be a fully working archive.org link for it:

http://web.archive.org/web/20070608093211/http://rise.lewander.com/textpattern/94/txp-global-variables

i don’t know if archive.org keeps these things indefinitely but i figure some plugin developers might want to take a look at it (unless theres a better resource now? if there is, i don’t know it)

Re: Global variables in Textpattern

Use the source, Luke!

The article you’re referring to is based on TXP g1.19. Things have changed since then. Not everything, but likely enough to be confusing if old information is used.

ahh i see. so should textbook links referring to it be removed? also http://www.focusontheclouds.com/home/articles/72/accessing-global-variables-in-textpattern also seems to be dated and based on textpattern RC3. hmm.

Re: Global variables in Textpattern

I don’t mind the links, just be aware that while some of the information is definitely still useful, things like <txp:s /> are deprecated nowadays, so plugin developers should not rely on such information.

Re: Global variables in Textpattern

i also notice this link as well

is there a more definitive, easily-readable and current ‘developer-approved’ list of global variables in textpattern? (besides the actual source code :P)

Re: Global variables in Textpattern

Nope. The Txp book has a listing of what each variable is for. I remember Rob asking me about several of them.

Can you provide link for the list of variables? I can’t find them myself.

Re: Global variables in Textpattern

I thought there is list with some notes like this one. but, ofcourse, http://phpxref.com/xref/textpattern/_variables/index.html is rather useful too

i just noticed what mary said..if you have the textpattern solutions book, at the very back theres a ‘plugin developer resources’ chapter with a list of helper functions (like all the functions in the lib files like assHead(); haha) and a list of global variables with descriptions.

i’m wondering how much i can ‘copy’ it to the web so people can use it as an online resource.

Re: Global variables in Textpattern

Over here is a list of all the functions in TXP. There is some organization but could use more and could definitely use more documentation. You could probably do something similar for variables
