e-mail name does not pass through

Hello

I want to add new users with an email adress like this name.name@host.com. Adding this adress I get following Warning:
Warning: mail() [function.mail <http://www.xxx/textpattern/function.mail>]: SMTP server response: 530 SMTP authentication is required. in D:\xxxx\textpattern\lib\txplib_misc.php on line *916

The same when I use the ign_password_protect plugin “Manage Users”
**Warning*: mail() [function.mail <http://www.xxx/function.mail>]: SMTP server response: 530 SMTP authentication is required. in D:\xxxxxx\textpattern\lib\txplib_misc.php(534) : eval()’d code on line *1146

The weird thing: Using an e-mail adress without a dot in the name part, no problems…

Somebody an idea?

That’s an SMTP level error code. Your webhost can tell you why they return that error code.
