SEO questions...

If I’m right, it seems that GoogleBot read the first 200 characters into each web pages. For SEO optimisation, these 200 first characters have to contain all keywords choosen (the keywords shown into meta keywords tag).

So, my question is :
Is it important to place the content (first level h1 tag, followed by it’s paragraph) at the very top level of each pages?
All websites contain menus and accessibility access very close to the header. Do you think it’s better to place menus and other secondary rule after the content text?

SEO specialists answers’ll be usefull :)

Thanks lot by advance for your contribution.

Best regards,

Patrick.

You got one :D

If I’m right, it seems that GoogleBot read the first 200 characters into each web pages. For SEO optimisation, these 200 first characters have to contain all keywords choosen (the keywords shown into meta keywords tag).

Wrong. Googlebot reads whole page starting from the top left to the right bottom. It works like spider, it reads it, as gathered to one single line, indexes links and so-on, and then goes to first found link and then to second. And then the mystic calculation starts that is quite secret, to avoid blackhat.

And to say, keywords have nothing to do with optimazition. Currently only it can cause is banning/Sandbox. Altought it can be used as a tag-list but is has more efect when using no keywords than using keywords that can not been found in the content. But it can semastic the content.

Keywords can contain max. 20 words, above it cause minus. Description must have something common with the content and it must be dynamic per page, if not it’s quite useless (then it’s only used for google’s search page results). It is suggested that you use max. 200 – 250 marks / 20 – 25 words in it. More is minus too.

All websites contain menus and accessibility access very close to the header. Do you think it’s better to place menus and other secondary rule after the content text?

The main menu links should be placed right under h1, as google usually finds it as the main menu, and creates semastic-menu-hassle by depending on it. The secondary sidebar menu should be placed under the content, as then content would get more value, as top of the page is more valuable than the bottom.

Is it important to place the content (first level h1 tag, followed by it’s paragraph) at the very top level of each pages?

Yes, h1 is used to be the name of the page/site, so it should be the first. And it’s the main header, like in the newspaper, but it shouldn’t be header of the paragraph in terms of SEO. h2 and under are for paragraps. What lower the tittle, the lower is the value. Every new same leveled header starts new level of semastic-tree. In example:

h1 My site jey.
h2. Hello I'm the main paragraph
		h3. Subtitle of the main-paragraph
	h2. I'm also quite important
		h3. Subtitle
			h4. Subtitles subtitle
			h4. Subtitles subtitle
				h5. Subtitles subtitle
h6. I'm the worst of man kind - I have no value at all :(
	h2. Thing to say

and accessibility access

Accessibility should be at the top if used. It’s for text browsers and bots. It directs the main content and other blocks. If it’s at the bottom, you could just removed it. At the bottom is useless in terms of SEO.

PS. don’t use h2 for slogan, is too common mistake. It brakes the semastic model, if it’s long, with out own regular content and so on.

Cheers!

Edit: Freaking typos, big time.
