Feature request for XML-RPC API
Hi!
I’ve been trying out blogging from a desktop client for a while and really enjoy it. I do however have one problem, which makes it impossible to use my favourite desktop blogging agent (MarsEdit in OS X) together with TextPattern: the inability to set the URI-title.MarsEdit supports a “slug”-field, which lets you create a URI-title for your entries. This slug-field never makes it into the Textpattern database, perhaps because the proper API-hook is missing?
This means you can only use desktop blogging apps with Textpattern if you have URIs with entry ID at the end. If you prefer a more usable URI of the type /section/title the link fails, since there is no URI-title tied to the entry.
I’m moaned about this on the MarsEdit forum as well. Please consider doing something about this.
Why settle for using the Metaweblog or MovableType API? Doesn’t Textpattern deserve one of its own?

Am I really the only one interested in this? I won’t believe it. ;-)

Re: Feature request for XML-RPC API
Sadly no. As I understand it that thread refers to the already present XML-RPC API. I’m hoping for an extension of that, which supports a few more of Textpatterns functionalities (i.e. URI titles).

Re: Feature request for XML-RPC API
I believe that the existing APIs model Textpattern’s functionality very well, but Textpattern itself has very very poor support for them through its XML-RPC interface. Improvement here is something I’m very willing to make donations towards.

hey december76. if you’re still around, try out this replacement for txp_RPCServer.php (goes in your /rpc directory)
it should fix your slug/url-title issue.
