The best hosting enviroment for TXP.
I am new to TXP and would like to get some feedback on peoples thoughts about hosting options. I currently have my site hosted on Godaddy, but it seems somewhat slow. Who is the best cost to speed choice.
Thanks

I’m on Dreamhost and find it particularly Txp friendly. They have a special offer on at the moment too.

I’ll second Net-Carver. I’m on Dreamhost as well.

don’t forget that most (if not all) shared hosts have some downtime. Dreamhost’s record for availability isn’t perfect (is anyone’s?) but their technical support crew have never let me down in the two years I’ve been with them. They have proven to be courteous and responsive every time I’ve needed them.
Regarding site speed — there are many factors involved here, not just the host’s network setup. For example, if you happen to end up on a shared hosting server which runs some popular sites then you might have a poor experience until you get moved to a less stressed box.
Also, is your site using excessive database queries?, would it benefit from caching? etc. These are issues that you could address even while on your current host.
If you are new to Txp then having a host on which it will run right ‘out of the box’ may also prove to be very helpful. Some people have reported trouble getting clean-URLs working on some hosts. But with dreamhost it will work fine first time.

Dreamhost = the bomb.
Unlimited amount of domains and sub-domains with one account. At last check, I was running nine simultaneous TXP installations on my personal account, and they all work perfectly out of the box, without any issues, ever.

Or for some it’s more like:
bq. Dreamhost = bombs.
Beware of hosts who oversell to this extent. If you want stellar service and much better performance there are better options, for example A Small Orange. Don’t expect them to promise unlimited bandwidth or terrabytes of storage, but your site won’t get clobbered when someone else on the same server goes ballistic.

Re: The best hosting enviroment for TXP.
All
(Hangs head in shame) I like Dreamhost but they just made a $7.5 million billing error. I’m cool about it as my account seems to be financially unaffected — but if I were running a load of client sites on my account that might be different.
The chosen method of reporting the matter seems too lighthearted for the potential gravity of the situation.
Caveat lector!

I seemed to have been unaffected as well, for which I’m thankful.
The first post on the situation was done in their usual humor oriented manner. By the next post their tone seems to have sobered up, complete with apologies for their first post.
