Missing Downloads under Files Tab
I started using the Files Tab about 6 months ago and I’ve had nothing but problems ever since. I upload a file, link to it and the download count starts going up. GREAT!
The problem is that after a while the download goes missing. I never edit the file and in most cases I don’t even touch the admin interface at all. I have no idea why it’s happening.
Any ideas on what’s going on? Thank you for your assistance.
I’m using TXP 4.0.5.

Re: Missing Downloads under Files Tab
When you say the “download goes missing” do you just mean the link stops working or the file gets deleted for whatever reason?

Re: Missing Downloads under Files Tab
After a random amount of time the Condition column in the Files Tab changes to Missing and the file is no longer download-able.

Re: Missing Downloads under Files Tab
You’re not happening to be using your tmp folder as your file upload folder, are you?

I’m using the default setup, so yes, it’s the tmp folder. Should it be set to something else?

Re: Missing Downloads under Files Tab
Try creating a /files/ directory (chmod777) and moving your files into it. If you create it above the “public_html” directory it will add a bit of security. In “advanced preferences” you will need to change the Files Directory path to point to your new directory. You will then need to remove all the entries on the files tab and use the “existing files” box to “reconnect” the links to the new files. Your download links will need changing as well.

Re: Missing Downloads under Files Tab
Thanks for the help you two! I reset the path to a different name and moved the files. Hopefully this will resolve the issue.
