Here’s a very good reason to choose Textpattern over WordPress. Wow, wp users suffer!

Yeah, that 2 hours did stick out for me also, but he went from 2.02 to 2.3.1, a lot of revisions to catch up on.
Irregardless, we are spoiled in TxP, or for that matter any web app that has a small code base. We don’t know how good we have it until we start playing around with other apps, then it becomes apparent that what we have here needs to be continued, protected and supported.

I am thankful for the size of the TextPattern code base every time I have to do a WordPress install. I have the patience to watch TXP install and start using it when it is complete. With WP, I start doing something else and check in after a while and hope it has finished by then.

Re: [feedback] Textpattern as a CMS dominates Wordpress
The notice for the latest WordPress release, posted yesterday, speaks volumes:
WordPress 2.3.2 is an urgent security release that fixes a bug that can be used to expose your draft posts. 2.3.2 also suppresses some error messages that can give away information about your database table structure and limits and stops some information leaks in the XML-RPC and APP implementations. Get 2.3.2 now to protect your blog from these disclosures.
It wouldn’t be such a big deal, except that 85-90% of their update notices read like that.

The entire project seems to now be run in such a way so that Automattic has software with as many features as possible to profit from, with little regard for any bugs or any features that are mostly invincible to the end-user.
When you’re on top, there’s no way to go but…
