Problem with MLP (multi-language publishing) set up
Hi all,
I’m having some trouble setting up MLP on my live server. I’ve searched the forums and not found a solution.
the site is at http://s22772.gridserver.com (you need to login to view… login: ‘textpattern’ / password: ‘textpattern’)
On my local OS X set up with MAMP MLP works fine with English and Basic Chinese, but I’ve tried doing both a fresh textpattern with MLP install and pushing my working local set-up to live and in both situations I get the same problem … when I go to http://s22772.gridserver.com it redirects to http://s22772.gridserver.com/en for english and gives a ‘Not Found. The requested URL /en was not found on this server’ message.
If I type in the index.php path – http://s22772.gridserver.com/index.php I can view the page, but clicking on any of the links no longer works.
Both MAMP and live are running PHP4 but the MySQL versions are different – 4.1.11 on live and 5.0.19 on MAMP – could this be the problem, and if so what can I do about it?
Any suggestions much appreciated,
thanks,
Ben
EDIT*
If it’s any help there are a couple of differences in the charset diagnostics for MAMP and live versions;
MAMP Diagnostics:
Charset (default/config): latin1/utf8
character_set_client: utf8
character_set_connection: utf8
character_set_database: latin1
character_set_filesystem: binary
character_set_results: utf8
character_set_server: latin1
character_set_system: utf8
character_sets_dir: /Applications/MAMP/Library/share/mysql/charsets/
17 Tables: -
Live Diagnostics:
Charset (default/config): latin1/utf8
character_set_client: utf8
character_set_connection: utf8
character_set_database: latin1
character_set_results: utf8
character_set_server: latin1
character_set_system: utf8
character_sets_dir: /usr/share/mysql/charsets/
17 Tables: -
On live there is no character_set_filesystem – could this be the source of the problem?

Sorry for the delay in responding to your post — but I only just stumbled upon it as I browsed through the old posts here on the forum.
Is this still an active problem for you? If so, please post about it here and I’ll do what I can to get you up and running.

Re: Problem with MLP (multi-language publishing) set up
Hi Net-Carver, thanks for getting back to me. I did in the end get it working on a second fresh install. I’m not sure what the problem was but I guess it was something I did during the set-up – I should have posted this up here.
Thanks for an exceptional plug-in, it’s been very useful! The site I used it on is here: http://www.nederlandershanghai.com/

Ben
good to hear you got it sorted out.
One request, as a matter of courtesy on my part: may I include a link to your site on my forthcoming site make-over?
