website not showing up with certain browsers / strange symbols
Greetings!
My website is not showing up at all on the following browsers/versions:
Mac Safari 2.0.4 (419.3) and Windows Inernet Explorer (not sure which versions).
I am using Mac Safari 3.0.3 (522.12.1) and it’s fine there and in Mac Firefox. It’s also OK with an Opera sim of Windows Browser on a Mac. Windows Firefox appears to be OK, too.
My url is:
http://www.journal.rosemarystarace.com/index.php
There is an entry page here:
http://www.rosemarystarace.com which does show up, but it’s not done with textpattern.
Also my textpattern edit site has started inserting code in my “pages” on it’s own every now and then, especially right at the beginning or within the header code. It is especially fond of changing > to ; — which also causes the page not to show up or show up wrong even on my own browser. But I can fix these. I’m using textpattern 4.0.2 (r1076). Perhaps I need to install an update?
I would appreciate some insight into these issues. I’m lumping them in one post in case they are related.
I am no geek, so plain speak would be appreciated. Thank you!!

your site shows just fine on safari 1.3.2. Is there a particular page you can point us to?
Perhaps I need to install an update?
… Updating is always a good idea

Re: website not showing up with certain browsers / strange symbols
Thank you for your quick reply. I’ll look into installing the update. From what people tell me none of the pages show up in the browsers name above except the portal page, which was not made in textpattern. They cannot get there directly or through the portal page, which should link to:
http://www.journal.rosemarystarace.com/index.php
Or any of the other textpattern-generated pages. For example:
http://journal.rosemarystarace.com/index.php?s=art
http://journal.rosemarystarace.com/index.php?s=Letters-to-the-World

Maybe it is a particular problem with safari 2+ as 1.3.2 renders all pages just fine

This page is not Valid XHTML 1.0 Transitional!
Result: Failed validation, 44 Errors
fix those first. i took a gander at your code and you’re missing a ton of closing tags.
for starters, the first obvious one is this <a href="#sidebar-2" title="Go to search">Go to search</a;

Thank you, Yiannis and Steve, for your replies.
I am grateful to know about the page validator. I fixed all my pages and I imagine that the browser problem is now fixed, too.
