Re: How do I create a subdomain for developing?

Yes, copy everything that was in the /public_html folder over as Steve says. images, files, .htaccess…..

Glad you got it working. FYI – on TextDrive and Joyent you don’t need chmod 777, 755 is fine and the default.

Re: How do I create a subdomain for developing?

i have on joyent two VS one is example.com and the other VS is called new.example.com

in other words new.example.com is a separate Virtual Server.

i can see a plain index.html file by going to new.example.com/index.html

but i cant login to my textpattern admin nor can i see the txp driven site:

i get this error:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING in /users/home/anni/domains/new.example.com/web/public/textpattern/config.php on line 8

nope. i double checked.

EDITED: Given your clue about a TYPO —- I took another look with BBedit and there was a strange char that was present. I copied in another config.php file and edited to reflect the present site and voila all works now!
