ping textpattern.com?
what exactly is the point of this? the rpc help isn’t very descriptive “This will send a ping to textpattern.com whenever you publish a new article.”
i understand what sending a ping is but what benefit could be had from pinging textpattern.com?

Re: ping textpattern.com?
I’m pretty sure this option has been available since I started using TXP back in the gamma days. I believe WordPress did something similar. Back then I think it was a way of roughly determining how many TXP sites were out there which is mostly why WP did it. I don’t think it would be an accurate enough method these days but why it has never been removed I have no idea. Maybe they get something else out of it.

Re: ping textpattern.com?
With this the Team TXP could do a “recently updated TXP sites” page on txp.com.

Wouldn’t sites updating their language files give the devs a pretty good idea as to how many TxP installs are out there?

Re: ping textpattern.com?
I think this option should come disabled by default if a feature is going to be made of it, as not everyone will want to be on the list.
