I want to install/move TXP in a different dirrectory - how?
Hello everybody.
I’ve installed TXP in a test dirrectory, just to see how all works, and i want now to install it in the root folder. What should i do, should in uninstall it first from the previous location and then install it in the root? If i will have to uninstall it, how i do it?
Thanks!

Re: I want to install/move TXP in a different dirrectory - how?
Thanks guys! Actually i’ve looked, but i didn’t found that topic in the wiki..
This means that i can do all the design/administration work in the test folder and when i’m finished, then i just have to modify those links, and i’ll have the TXP installed in the root folder?

Csaba
You’ll need to do some file moving too, according to the article.
Is there anything else at the site root — or is it just a parking page?

It’s the current version of the site there, which i want to change. Few dozen’s of files, mostly html.

Re: I want to install/move TXP in a different dirrectory - how?
net-carver thanks!
I decided to leave it in the testfolder for now, until i ‘ll work on the design.
But I have another problem, i’ve changed the name of the folder in which i have installed the TXP from “textpattern-4.0.5” to “catalogue”
All works fine, except if i try to change the path to the files upload folder in the Advanved Preferences it tells me that
Not Acceptable
An appropriate representation of the requested resource /test/catalogue/textpattern/index.php could not be found on this server
But if i open www.mysite.com/test/catalogue/textpattern/index.php all works fine
Why?

Why?
I don’t know.
Have you got access to the underlying tables via something like phpmyadmin? If so, you can use that to try changing the entry in the txp_prefs table directly.

Re: I want to install/move TXP in a different dirrectory - how?
I have changed the entry in phpmyadmin
But now in the diagnosis it tells me that cannot write to that path home/numism/public_html/test/catalog/files
Also if i change something, anything in the advanced preferences, it tells me the same thing:
Not Acceptable
An appropriate representation of the requested resource /test/catalogue/textpattern/index.php could not be found on this server
Strange one..

Um, you are spelling catalog in different ways there. Maybe that’s the problem?
