Sounds like you’re not interested in Paypal, but with Paypal (and other similar services) you can simply use TXP itself … here’s the article that describes it

Benbruce. I think you misunderstood. We want the ability for a user to add items to the cart and display the cart without leaving the site. Paying on the site, without getting tossed to a third party site like paypal is another issue.

textcommerce has a session-based shopping cart plugin now. it’ll let you have “the ability for a user to add items to the cart and display the cart without leaving the site”.
or if you know just a pinch of php (which is basically all i know) you can easily take a look at joe_gcart which is powered by wfcart and adopt it for your own needs. thats basically all i did for lam_paypalcart. the wfcart class is what powers textpattern sites like popularweddingfavors.com and favorabledesigns.com
the groundwork has already been laid out for you.
