Event management

so i want to add an event/tour date module on to my site. i understand that i could make this simple and just set up a category for the events and then each event becomes an article – very simple. but are there any neat features out there to enable things like reminding people just before the event, or invite their friends to the event? sort of like google calender and facebook – but not as detailed as those services. speaking of google calender, any way to integrate that into my textpattern site?

Re: Event management

If you’re after article style, jmc_event_manager won’t be for you.

The active “telling” of people about events would require cron jobbing something in the background afaik.

Re: Event management

thanks fellas, i decided that i don’t need my site to get too crazy with notifying people or anything. i saw that google calender is easily integratable if i want to go that route but it’s just a widget that you plop on to the page, it’s not very exciting. would you say Zem_Event is easier to manage of the two plugins?
