Comments not working
Hi people,
since 24/08 I have had a problem with readers not being able to post comments.
I have made a couple of test environments and they all suffer the same problem.
Just recently, newly added articles are also not displayed….
Everything was working fine for about 18 months… then the comments stopped. I noticed that the server had been reloaded on the 23rd so contacted my hosting service. No use at all! Said it was a script error.
I have now loaded a virgin Textpattern site and created a new DB at http://bikerbytes.com/txp405/
If I try to post a comment on this article, I wait an age before it responds with a blank page and the url displayed is http://bikerbytes.com/txp405/article/2/end-of-the-road#comment which looks correct (no?).
Anyone with any ideas please. I still think its a server problem but without some “ammunition” they don’t seem very helpful.
The server is running php 4.3.10 / mysql 4.0.16
Thanks,
J

Re: Comments not working
hmm odd…
try removing “sbl.spamhaus.org” from the spam blacklist section from your textpattern admin -> advanced settings and see if that affects your article load time.

Re: Comments not working
Well, iblastoff, that as quite a dramatic change!
Apart from the load time, the comments are now fully functional as are a couple of articles that were recent addition that just refused to load.
Is the domain at sbl.spamhaus.org dead now?…
Thank you very much oh wise one:-))
One other question: is it possible to “open” articles for comments after they have closed?

In the ‘Write’ screen, you can set Comments to ‘on’ (use the ‘More’ link). In Preferences you can also set ‘Disabled after’ for comments to ‘never’, and manually close comments for an article when you want to.
