Just trying out the new facility to stop deletion of currently used page template and I get the message:-
page_used_by_section: ambiru, 2
Just wanted to know what the “2” indicates please.
Are we likely to see the same thing for “form” templates or is that more difficult?

ambiru is the section you try to delete and it is used by 2 articles.
There isn’t a translation yet for that language string. That’ll happen before the official 4.0.6 release so it will probably look something like this: “Section ‘ambiru’ not deleted, because it is used by 2 articles”. If you have a suggestion for a better, shorter message, it’s more than welcome. Perhaps something like “Section ‘ambiru’ not deleted; used by 2 articles” ?
For forms it’s too difficult, because you’d have to parse all articles and templates and forms to find if the from is still in use, while for css, page, section we can do one simple SQL query to find out if it is in use.

Thanks for the info Ruud.
As for an appropriate short message “Section ‘ambiru’ not deleted; used by 2 articles” says it all but you do have to fit it into quite a small space with the current TXP Admin layout. For my own part the message can be as long as you like as I have moved it below the tabs in my own layout. Is there any thought to moving it in the default layout? Might help with not having to come up with “short” messages all the time.

I think “Section ‘ambiru’ not deleted; used by 2 articles” will fit, because I just noticed there’s already messages like “Comments hidden and marked as spam:” which are then followed by one of more comment ID numbers. Those are just as long or longer. It all depends on how long the user makes the section name anyway.
When we move to a table-less layout, this space issue will probably be dealt with as well.

Just out of curiosity, whilst I’m here anyway, there was already a system in place to completely remove the ability to delete page templates or CSS used by “default”. Was is not feasible to extend that method here?
