the_video plugin question

Hi everyone, I just installed the_video plugin, I was curious if there were a way to have a Custom Field fill the id for the video file. ??? Make it easier for the user, all he has to do is copy paste the youtube id into the field, instead of write out the whole <txp: …. thanks

One more thing…. Im using hak_tinymce editor, everytime I write code to imbed the video, I have to toggle off the editor and write it in the default txp editor. Really fine, just wondering if there was a way without toggelling..? and when you go back to edit the article, the code isent there anymore.??? thanks again… Sorry for all my questions, I guees its easier than starting 3 posts.

Re: the_video plugin question

try it alongside a plugin named asy_wondertag

In example:

<txp:asy_wondertag><txp:the_video from="Y" id="<txp:custom_field name="FieldName" />" /></txp:asy_wondertag>

Cheers!

Re: the_video plugin question

I never spotted that plugin and it looks very cool except I did not manage to fully make it work and I was wondering if anyone could the problem…

The plugin for me performs just fine with google videos which are downloadable but it does not load the ones which are not.

Can anyone confirm this?

Re: the_video plugin question

Works fine for me with YouTube videos. For local videos, see this comment on the TXP resources page, where the author responds to a question I asked.

Re: the_video plugin question

Hi jstubbs

It was – as usually – my fault. Some Undownloadable google videos have a - before their id which i did not include:)

Thanks for pointing me back to the plugin’s txp page as the solution to validate seems that it helped.

Remember that all videos in video.google and Youtube aren’t embedable, so they can’t be emped to anywhere :) – the user can choose that can it be emped or not, and videos that content is inappropriate for some users, aren’t allowed to emped.

Cheers!

Hi Gocom

I have a google account and I was trying to embed videos which I uploaded. Using google to save bandwidth on the server. View links to them here

Showing fine in IE6 (using ies4linux with the Adobe Flash plugin installed, without that it doesn’t show). I need to reboot for IE7, I’ll have a look later but I suppose if 6 is ok so will 7 be. Nice video ;)

I guess that it will on that one too.
Many thanks Els!
Embedding media using valid xhtml is a real problem. I wish they figured out a method which would support everything…. Including the w3 validator.
