[request] Request: Zem_Contact_Reborn AJAX Form Submission w/ jquery

I’ve been working on this with Hakjoon, but as he does these things because he has a pentient for fixing and problem solving, but is busy, I thought I’d ask around here.

This is the jquery plugin I am attempting to implement. I’m in the process of learning some basics of javascript, and a little about libraries and how to use them, but I felt like this would be a good addition to the plugin.

Issues:

  • Form Submission
  • Error checking
  • Returning Thanks form

Why Jquery?

  • Because its hot
  • Because I’m already using it, and have no desire to double up on libraries or proprietary JS
  • Because future releases of TXP will be bundled with it (in domain/textpattern/js/ )

Anyone up for working with me to figure this out?

Is this a plugin? Well not really.
But it is directly tied with ZCR, so I felt it was appropriate to post here :) (if not, please feel free to move it or give me the POWER to do that myself) -mwaw ha ha.

THanks Jeremie. We’ll see if we can get this rolling. It would make a nice addition. Perhaps I’ll post my screw ups here?

Maybe of help?

I’ve never used ZCR and am unfamiliar with it, but I have been kicking around what goes on with jQuery. Are you aware of this:
forms.js

duh, guess I should have looked under this

Is this a haunted thread?

Given that I have been using form.js as a guide with some beginning scripts of my own, perhaps I can be of some help. Time currently permits and I could use the challenge.

*little bump *

I would be interested in the solution squaredeye/hakjoon came up with, but the link to the squaredeye article leads to a 404. Is that information – I hope it’s some kind of a tutorial, since I’m pretty much a Jquery-n00b :) – available somewhere?

Re: [request] Request: Zem_Contact_Reborn AJAX Form Submission w/ jquery

Let me look through my email archive and see if have at least my part of the article which is all the jQuery stuff.

Update: Ok I found the Javascript (luckily someone had implemented the tutorial at one point). Let me see if I can reconstruct the whole thing. Hopefully Matthew will pop in with an archive of the article first :)

Unfortunately the link in that forum post is dead too…

@ hakjoon:
Thanks in advance! I’m also hoping Matthew will pop in! * crossing my fingers*

I think I saved it but it’s at my home PC. I’ll try and remember to post it somewhere later. I never implemented it but saved it for the future.

(I couldn’t check the link because web.archive is blocked at work)
