Switching URLS

Hi, I am trying to change the url to a site i built on ps.accarter.com to psbooks.org – both urls publish from the same folder. Simply changing the url in preferences works only when I switch to using messy urls. Does anyone know why this is? Is there somewhere else I have to change the site url?

Thank you for your help!
Best,
Allison

Re: Switching URLS

It looks like this:
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -f [OR]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -d
RewriteRule ^(.+) – [PT,L]

RewriteRule ^(.*) index.php

clean urls worked on the old url…
thanks!!

Re: Switching URLS

Ok so .htaccess is not the problem. Can you post the diagnostics?
Normally when moving a site you’d have to change config.php as well, but if I understand correctly this is not a move, right?

Re: Switching URLS

Right – it’s not a move, just a change of the url where it’s published.

Re: Switching URLS

1. I see a double slash in Document root, don’t know if that is relevant.
2. Actually I meant diagnostics when permanent link mode is set to clean urls, so we can see if there are any error messages in diagnostics.

Re: Switching URLS

…both urls publish from the same folder.

What does that mean, exactly?

You may need to tinker with the mod_rewrite rules a bit.

Re: Switching URLS

it means that the location of files for ps.accarter.com and psbooks.org is the same – a directory named ps in my public folder.

does that make sense?

Re: Switching URLS

What I am wondering is if you have some kind of redirecting in place that is confusing the url rewriting.

Re: Switching URLS

oh, no. no redirect and no mirrors – just two urls assigned to the same directory.
if there were a redirect i don’t think messy urls would work either?

Re: Switching URLS

okay there’s definitely something weird going on though – i just deleted ps.accarter.com to prove that it wasn’t a redirect. the site is still running, but none of my background images are showing up.

*I also just repaired my db to make sure, and still no-go.
