Republishing comments?
I’ve got an article in my blog which received a hell of a lot of comments (it was regarding getting screwed over by my insurance company). I recently had to disable comments for a bit as I was getting spam. This in turn removed the comments from the article, but they are still in the textpattern back end. Is it possible to republish them? I am probably missing something dead simple…

Re: Republishing comments?
Just enable comments again (preferences and/or write tab). You can automatically disable the comments form for old articles (default is 6 weeks, I think, configurable in the preferences).

Re: Republishing comments?
I tried that, and unfortunately it didn’t work. None of the comments on my site have re-appeared, but all new comments display fine.

Re: Republishing comments?
Do the comments in the txp_comments table have the parentID set identical that of the article they belong to?
And if you go the the articles tab, when all details are shown, you should see a comments link at the end of the article. What is the status of the comments shown there?

Re: Republishing comments?
The first thing, I looked at the database, and there’s no txp_comments table. Yet the comments are there, because I can look at them.
On the second point, there’s no link to comments in the article tab, nor in the actualy article itself.
??????
Am really confused now.
BTw thanks for your help ruud.

Re: Republishing comments?
Hmm… try a table called txp_discuss instead.
And on the comments tab, which parent-article is shown for the comments that stay hidden and what status do those comments have?

Re: Republishing comments?
Is it possible that in any of your comments form there is a txp:if_comments_allowed wrapping the code that outputs the comments?

Re: Republishing comments?
ruud – checked the txp_discuss and all the comments are in there. Can’t see an article link though, but the visibility is set to 1 on all comments. In the comments tab the comments are present again and the article is the correct one.
Maniqui – there is a txp:if_comments_allowed wrapping tag. Do I need to remove that?

Re: Republishing comments?
Can you post your comments form?
Maybe there’s some logic in your form that is telling TxP something like this:
“If comments are allowed, output comments. Else, don’t output anything.”
