Suddenly can't upload .PDF files.
I’m suddenly experiencing a bizarre problem in that I can no longer upload .PDF files. On my Macintosh using Safari, it just appears to hang. Using Firefox, I receive the following error: “The connection was reset. The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.” A similar error occurs in IE on a Windows machine. Uploading images or other file formsts works perfectly fine. According to the server admins, nothing has changed on their end.
Any ideas?

How large are these PDFs?

One is 2.5MB, the other is around 10MB. I was running into earlier problems with .PDF files being truncated due to the PHP limit on uploads, but that was corrected.

I just tried a small ( <500k ) .PDF, and that worked. PHP max_upload was set to something ridiculous, around 40MB if I remember correctly. I’m at a loss…

I would recommend uploading these large files by FTP, then claiming them from the files interface once uploaded to the files directory (a dropdown should appear).
Chances are that the upload is just taking too long, so the script simply times out.

Ok, that worked. Thank you for your patience with me being an inexperienced Textpattern user. I’m still curious why this suddenly changed, we’ve been able to upload larger (~9MB) .PDF files in the past. Are there any PHP settings that I should be looking into with our provider that could affect this?

Yes, there are a few PHP limits that restrict the maximum POST size and file upload size that could affect the maximum file upload limit.

Could you tell me which ones I need to look for? I know of php_max_upload, what else?
