Migrating from v. 1.0 on Windows to 4.0 on Linux
Hello!
I’ll be migrating a Textpattern 1.0 website from a Windows Server 2003 to Textpattern 4.0 on Linux. (I’m also a Textpattern newbie! … took over the site from someone else.)
Does anyone know of any particular issues I need to look out for?
I noticed that the 4.0 database has a txp_file table that doesn’t exist in v. 1.0. Will this be a problem?
I’m thinking that I’ll just do a mysqldump of the database and then import that into my database on the unix machine. Anyone have any thoughts about using mysql vs. mysqlimport to populate the tables?
… Or any other thoughts or advice?? Thanks!!! Vicki

Re: Migrating from v. 1.0 on Windows to 4.0 on Linux
There are two ways to do this:
- first upgrade the TXP 1.0 install to 4.0.x, then migrate to a new server.
- install 4.0.x on the new server, remove the 4.0.x TXP tables, copy the 1.0 TXP tables from the old server. TXP should notice the old version number and start the upgrading process.
PS. when posting here on the forum, please don’t post it in multiple subforums (other post is now deleted) and don’t send the same question through the TXP developer contact form. We read the forum as well ;)

Yes, it’s bloody annoying, especially since you checked the box stating you were not asking for support, which you were. >/
