How does one create subcategories?

I’ve already searched, but couldn’t find anything that could help. Has anyone successfully done this? All I want is to be able to have something like:

domain.com/movies/reviews/enchanted

Re: How does one create subcategories?

That looks more like subsections, which will not be supported before TXP 4.1.x

Yeah, I meant subsections. Whoops.

Is there a current workaround this? I wish it wasn’t required for my site, but I have no choice.

Re: How does one create subcategories?

possibly use categories as subsection? could follow up with gbp_permanent_links and/or zoo_section_and_category_list

I’ll check those out.

Would this also work?

zem_rewrite is kinda old plugin that ain’t needed anymore. It just makes URLs clean, which is what the core Textpattern does. And zem_rewrite also doesn’t work quite well with 4.0.x. – it’s build for a years older version.

Try gbp_permanent_links instead. You won’t need zem_rewrite.

Cheers!

Re: How does one create subcategories?

I checked it out. That looks like the one to use. I’m a little confused as to how to set up the links though.

Re: How does one create subcategories?

I read, but I still don’t get it & it seems so simple. The main problem I’m having is trying to set the links up. Here’s an example of what I want to do:

Let’s say I write an article & the main section for it is News, but it falls under another section called Entertainment. The link should look something like:

domain.com/news/entertainment/article

Re: How does one create subcategories?

If anyone requires a menu based purely on sections and sub-sections have a look at my plugin: adi_menu.

Yes, it is very smart to pull useless, over half year old articles to the first page to just be able advertise your own plugin – when it also is done in couple minutes to multiple old topics… Yes, yes, we need these old topics :D
