dealing with 'database unavailable'
if mySQL server is down, would like to provide user with a friendly error screen – maybe with some links to alternative resources
something like IF database unavailable THEN load website_unavailable.html
is this possible with Textpattern? has anyone done it?

Re: dealing with 'database unavailable'
i would imagine all you would have to do is edit the function db_down() in txplib_db.php around line 465. at the moment all it does is return a 503 status, along with a doctype and the “Database unavailable” text.
