novice with database dump problems

Hi im trying to import an sql file via rss database manager on a locally run instance of textpattern.
Im trying to import a file from a live textpattern 4.04 site thats using the widescreen template system
into a 4.05 install without the template files installed. Below is the error.
Do i need to install the template files and or upgrade to 4.05 before i import a database from the live site into the local site? heres the error:

Error

SQL query:

— MySQL dump 10.9

— Host: localhost Database: kvnmcwebn
— ———————————————————————————
— Server version 4.1.22-log
/*!40101 SET OLD_CHARACTER_SET_CLIENT=@CHARACTER_SET_CLIENT */;

Re: novice with database dump problems

For some reason, it is choking on the conditional comment:

/*!40101 SET OLD_CHARACTER_SET_CLIENT=@CHARACTER_SET_CLIENT */;

Try editing the dumpfile to remove that line and try again.

Re: novice with database dump problems

Hi mary,
I removed that line and but it got stuck on the next one which was also about the character set. I thought i might be a problem with the character set stuff but after i got through all those lines it still choked.
I think I’m going to have to give up on this one till i learn more:{
Is there any documentation about keeping a syncronized local version of an online site you could recommend?
got your email thanks.
