Problems displaying permalink pages in add-on domain

I’m currently hosting a site for a client on my own webserver. Their address is http://lwcc.ca. My hosted site is http://qreativ.com. Their site is located in a folder called lwcc which has been configured as an add-on domain. The Textpattern install is, as would be expected, in the textpattern folder inside the lwcc folder, so that the full path is actually public_html/lwcc/textpattern.

I login to the administrative interface at http://lwcc.ca/textpattern. The diagnostic panel shows no errors.

The home page and top-level section pages show up fine:

http://lwcc.ca
http://lwcc.ca/about_lwcc
http://lwcc.ca/weblog
http://lwcc.ca/devotionals
http://lwcc.ca/calendar
http://lwcc.ca/donations
http://lwcc.ca/events
http://lwcc.ca/podcasts
http://lwcc.ca/contact_us
http://lwcc.ca/faq
http://lwcc.ca/archives

Please note that some of the content may be strangely formatted or repetitive. That’s okay. I’m still in the development stage.

However, on pages which have lists to permalink articles, the content shows up, but the elements on the template page don’t:

http://lwcc.ca/weblog/2/coming-soon
http://lwcc.ca/devotionals/8/devotionals-coming-soon

You will notice that the article content is cut off at the top of the page. This is due to a sort of CSS hack I had to implement in order to have the page layout elements kind of ‘tuck’ themselves into the shadowy framing element that you see on all the properly formatted pages. For some reason, I tried to place a centered background image into the body tag so that it would lie beneath the whole wrapper of the layout elements. But in Textpattern, it wouldn’t work. So I placed the frame as a regular layout item and used negative positioning to push the wrapper up so that they would overlap.

This worked on section pages, but everything seems to disappear except the permalink article elements when clicking an article title.

My theory is that it has something to do with URL paths and possibly the htaccess file because the Textpattern installation is in an add-on domain and not a true domain. I haven’t altered the default htaccess file except for removing the commenting symbol (#) from the DirectoryIndex to make sure the index.php file is the default page chosen when calling lwcc.ca.

Has anyone had to tackle problems with add-on domains and permanent link pages? Your help would be much appreciated.

Try fixing your HTML first, see the W3C validator results

Re: Problems displaying permalink pages in add-on domain

Thanks for the quick response.

Turns out that some of the paths to the image files were done using a relative link like “images/picture.jpg” instead of using <txp:image /> id numbers. The pages work now.

Sorry for the fuss. Turned out to be an easy fix. I feel a little silly about it now.
