login problem (possible cookie error)

SOS!

I recently installed textpattern 4.0.5. It took a bit, but I managed to install alright. I posted a few posts. It all seemed okay. Now a week later, I come back and can’t post anything. Or do anything.

Everytime I try to switch to another page in the admin control panel, it asks for a login again. I have it set to remember my login, but it keeps asking. The first day it remembered my log in but not anymore. I’ve tried to use Firefox, IE6 and Opera, but get the same problem. The Opera is a brand new raw install too.

I also can’t enter articles, because when I type one up and hit publish, it sends me to the login page, then when I login, it forgets the whole article I just wrote. I also seem to have problems making any changes to my setup in the control panel.

I tried using both www.MyDomainName.com and just MyDomainName.com in the URL bar to test it. Both paths have the same error.

When I look at my cookies for the site, it says there are two by the name of txp_login. Both have a content showing my username followed by a scrambled string of text. I assume that’s the password. One cookie is for “myDomainName.com” and the other is for “www.myDomainName.com”. Otherwise they look identical.

The only thing non-standard about my setup is that I placed TextPattern within a folder (“blog”) in my website. And that website is an added domain name on my hosting account.

Does anyone have any clue what’s going on? It sounds like the cookies aren’t writing for some reason. But I have no expertise to fix that.

HELP!

Re: login problem (possible cookie error)

if anyone has the same problem, it was ZoneAlarm. Under Privacy, find the website and open up the options for it.
