Problem with rss_admin_db_manager in local

I’ve finished to develop a site in local and, before put it online I’ve tried to backup all (structure and contents) with the rss_admin_db_manager by Robert Sable. Surprisingly I obtain an ERROR 1 and not the backup file.

Any suggestions?

p.s.: the folder permission seem OK to me

Why not doing backup manually?

Cheers!

Too many forms and pages… Installing the plugin and importing the backup will save me a lot of time… Or you mean using phpMyAdmin?

Re: Problem with rss_admin_db_manager in local

Thanks. I used phpMyAdmin to migrate some forum and I remember I get mad with character set and others many options (save blank table and so on…): if you are experienced what are the correct parameter to do a perfect TXP migrations?

Thanks for your help.

p.s.: anyone managed to get rss_admin_db_manager running in local?

These settings works fine for me:

  • Select all tables SQL
  • Add auto increment Value
  • Enclose table and field names with backquotes
  • Complete inserts
  • Use hex for binary fields
  • Save as file

Re: Problem with rss_admin_db_manager in local

I’ve just installed rss_admin_db_manager in local on a Mac and I don’t even see the the extra tabs it talks about, that should appear in the Txp admin interface. I’ve tried restarting the server, even the whole machine, and then reinstalling the plugin and trying all these again, and see…. zilch.

But why is this backup business such a hassle? Are there hidden files or protected files that a simple copy will miss or won’t copy, or something? Is it not possible to backup just by saving two (big) folders, ie the site folder and the MySQL-Apache-PHP application folder (MAMP in my case as I’m on a Mac)? The application folder looks like it contains the whole MySQL database. And presumably there are some similar folders you can save on Windows with XAMPP

Re: Problem with rss_admin_db_manager in local

rss_admin_db_manager works fine on my local install for me. the one setting i had to change was the location/path of mysqldump and mysql (for wamp i had to use D:\wamp\mysql\bin\mysqldump.exe etc).

i just can’t get db manager to work on my live server though! (to be fair, hardly anything works on my live server. clean urls, etc etc etc)
