Publishing an article using a form

I would like to be able to allow site users to publish an article made up of pre-determined fields by filling out an online form and submitting (with a preview option too).

What I’m after is sort of like comments and/or a hack of zem_contact, but instead of comments being associated to one article, or sending content in an email I’d like the form to publish it’s contents as an article. Is this possible?

Re: Publishing an article using a form

this is not possible with the default install. There is a plugin though which allows people to self register and post from the article tab.

Re: Publishing an article using a form

Thanks for your reply.

I’m not sure a wiki is what I’m after. I’m looking to produce articles (displaying as individual pages) conforming to a certain layout that would be populated with content via a form that users fill out. So for example, the form may have fields for name, email and message and the resulting article displays the three pieces of content in a particular layout style. It’s very similar in concept to the comments, but I want to be able to show lists of posted content and permanant links to the individual content pages. If anyone has a good idea as to how to achieve this I’d be most grateful.

One step further might be to integrate paypal, so users will post their notice, preview it, submit (which takes them to paypal to pay for the listing) and then returns to the article which will be published upon payment. Any help re posting via a form and/or ecommerce/paypal integration will be very gratefully received.

Cheers!

Re: Publishing an article using a form

TXPhorum plugin has function to produce article-publishing forms. But why not just using mem_self_register – it allows users to log in Textpattern’s backend admin panel. But in case of what you will need to use mem_self_register-plugin – if you don’t wan’t intensive spam on your site.

PS. I’m working on kind of plugin, that you needed – but it’s for my a own project. But I could bring it to public, in couple of weeks, or more/less.

Cheers!

Re: Publishing an article using a form

Thanks again. Some great plugins there.

Take a look at this – 37 signals job board – I’m looking for some way to do a similar thing to this, where the user posts content using a form similar to post a job and posts can be listed like the job listings shown here.

Re: Publishing an article using a form

Could be done with TXPhorum – or by function, that it contains. As tag:

<txp:bab_forum_form type="post" section="jobs" />

Cheers!

I am looking for the same thing tollady. Gocom, what will your plugin do? What tollady describes in reply#3 is pretty much what I need too.

Re: Publishing an article using a form

I don’t actually know yet, because it all for my personal project :-) But I think it does same as <txp:bab_forum_form type="post" section="jobs" />, but includes extra features – takes the write tab to frontend, with limitations. If I even need it – I’m student and I don’t have so much of freetime.

Cheers!

Re: Publishing an article using a form

I will post the plugin’s information to here (at _Plugin author_-section) and to the Textpattern.org when the plugin is ready to use, in other hands in public-version 0.1.

Something about the new plugin:

rah_publicwriter
Outputs article-writing-form to frontend

Cheers!
