Re: MLP - The Multi-Lingual Publishing Pack

Doing a site at the moment using MLP and have had to use TXP 4.04 to get it all working and I have come across a rather bizarre problem.

For some reason MLP adds a blank line at the top of all HTML pages that it is used on, which is not a problem in any browser except internet explorer on the MAC where a question mark is inserted on the blank line which breaks up the page.

Seems its a problem on other MLP sites as well. None of my other sites that have been designed using TXP allone have this issue. Anyway just wondering if anyone has encountered this oddity?

/Christian

Re: MLP - The Multi-Lingual Publishing Pack

christian, that may be caused by the BOM at the beginning of the document. Follow the link to find out how to remove it.

Re: MLP - The Multi-Lingual Publishing Pack

I am pretty sure its MLP which causes it. I don’t have this problem on any other site that uses textpattern (i.e. without MLP). I am digging my way through all the code at the moment to see if I can spot the problem somewhere.

Re: MLP - The Multi-Lingual Publishing Pack

Ahh thank you, was too quick there.

Now I have 500 internal server errors though so don’t know if it solved the problem.

Edit: Got it all to work, the BOM trick solved my problem with IE for the MAC.

Re: MLP - The Multi-Lingual Publishing Pack

evening folks,
you are my last hope to get this plugin to work. i have tried everything, different php version (4.4.1), different mysql version (4.x.21) different txp version (4.0.4 stable) it just doesn’t wanna play with me. and the error message doesn’t make sense to me. so in the hope some of you guys/gals have an idea what else i could try, i have posted the mlp-tab error message, and the diagnostic output.

thank you all,
jmk

1. It requires MySQL Privileges 1 SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE, CREATE, CREATE TEMPORARY TABLES, ALTER, LOCK TABLES, INDEX, DROP or above, current install is missing privs – or grants on DB (`db23543` as `db23543`) cannot be evaluated.

Re: MLP - The Multi-Lingual Publishing Pack

jmk,
In your MySQL setup, there’s a database called ‘mysql’, containing a table called ‘db’. In that table the privileges mentioned in the error message have to be set to Y (yes) instead of N (No) for the user/db combination that you use for your textpattern install.

see also MySQL documentation on privileges

Re: MLP - The Multi-Lingual Publishing Pack

Create_tmp_table_priv: … that should be set to Y

What happens if you add &debugwiz=1 or ?debugwiz=1 at the end of the query string when visiting the mlp-tab? And also switch your site status to ‘debug’. Both those things might provide some useful debug messages.

yup, it is, that was just a copy&paste error :)

finally i got a new method of getting information. thanks! alright, i got this output:

—-

Testing for privs to DB:`db23543` on Server:mysql5.domain.tld, v:5.0.41-log. Connected using user: db23543.

SHOW GRANTS FOR ‘db23543’@‘mysql5.domain.tld’;

Initial SHOW GRANTS query failed, re-trying.

SHOW GRANTS;

array ( 0 => ‘GRANT USAGE ON . TO \‘db23543\’@\‘ip_address\’ IDENTIFIED BY PASSWORD \’****************\’‘,
)

Mathed: string(69) “ privs – or grants on DB (`db23543` as `db23543`) cannot be evaluated”

does that help?

Re: MLP - The Multi-Lingual Publishing Pack

Ask your webhost why the SQL commands

SHOW GRANTS FOR 'db23543'@'mysql5.domain.tld';

and.

SHOW GRANTS;

don’t show grants but show this error instead: There is no such grant defined for user 'db23543' on host 'mysql5.domain.tld'

On second thought… is mysql5.domain.tld where your website is hosted or is it a dedicated MySQL server? In that case, try running SQL commands like:

SHOW GRANTS FOR 'db23543'@'name_of_server_where_your_website_is_hosted';
SHOW GRANTS FOR 'db23543'@'IP_number_of_server_where_your_website_is_hosted';
SHOW GRANTS FOR 'db23543'@'domain_name_of_your_website';

PS. if there’s a MySQL guru reading here, feel free to step in, because at this point I’m out of other ideas.
