I see Nathan commented already on it, oh the power of the user review.

Re: Textpattern book

Well, it was the first Friends of ED book which mentioned Txp. I wouldn’t be surprised if that fact helped this book get accepted for publishing (among other things, of course).

Sorry if this is old news, but I was browsing the friends of ED catalogue and noticed they’ve got a 450-page book coming out in May called Textpattern Solutions: PHP-Based Content Managment Made Easy. Looks like it will be quite comprehensive.

Re: Textpattern book

I started this thread eight months ago, and now I finally have the book. I’ve pretty much plowed through the whole thing already, and have enjoyed it immensely.

Just one question: On Page 355, it says “the custom shopping cart code and payment integration have not been publicly released as of the time of this writing.”

Does anyone know if there are plans for a public release, and, if so, when that might be?

i ordered two copies of the book for our local library here yay :)

according to this post, ‘team textpattern’ is/was working on an e-commerce solution that was supposed to encompass more than a paypal-integration type of shopping cart. that post was over a year ago, zem has since left textpattern development and i havent heard of the plugin at all anymore.

unless the team is being super secretive i highly doubt its still in the works :(

it seems people are watching out for another solution at textcommerce which was supposed to have released a version near a month ago but has since gone silent.

i know this sounds grim at the moment but we’re relying on peoples free time (though textcommerce has gathered $500 for plugin dev time) so its completely understandable.

Re: Textpattern book

“Gathering requirements” isn’t quite the same thing as actually developing it. If such a thing exists in any state of completetion, Alex (zem) has it, not us, and I don’t believe anyone else has worked on it. But, I do not think it exists at all.
