Running External Gallery Script

Hi, I planned on using an external gallery script for my site, I have been using textpattern for ages now and love it one problem I have got using the script for the gallerys is it needs the index.php file set to 777 this however stuffs up anything from showing on the page.

Is there some way around this?

it’s late here 3.am so if I seem a little low on info forgive me will add more later if need be.

Re: Running External Gallery Script

Hmmm…. guess this might be something I have to work out myself……

Here is a little more info….

Basically the gallery script has it’s own admin area where I add my pics and so forth now it rebuilds the index.php page from inside the admin area (hence the 777) thats where the issue arose.

It is supposed to be modifying the index.php as it rebuilds itself every X amount of clicks on the thumbs as I mentioned already.

It will rebuild the index.php page once a user clicks so many thumbs, the script is smart thumbs (adult script)

Thats why the index.php file needs to be writeable as I already mentioned.

Re: Running External Gallery Script

It sounds like these are two separate things. Having one index.php for two different programs will probably result in neither working. I suggest you:

  1. leave txp as it is and put it’s chmod settings back to what they were originally (if it has already been modified, restore it from a fresh copy of the txp files).
  2. Then put your new gallery in a sub-folder and set the chmod settings for the gallery script’s index.php in the subfolder as you desire.

They should work independently of one another. I’ve used galleries like photostack in sub-folders of txp installations without any problems in the past.

Re: Running External Gallery Script

As Steve points out, that won’t work with Textpattern. You will have to find a different way to do this, such as Jakob describes.

Yes I did realize that, the diff way was to not use the script.

Thanks though.
