Clean URL test failed

I have followed the advice in the FAQ’s to enable clean URL’s and my host has mod_rewrite enabled by default. But i am unable to get them to work. Will i have to find a new host or should clean URL’s be working if I have done what is advised in the FAQ?

if clean urls is really important to you, you MAY have to find a new host if none of the methods in the faq worked for you provided they were attempted correctly. i know from my own experience that dreamhost, godaddy, p4host all work fine with clean urls. netfirms definitely does not (and may possibly be the worst hosting service ever).

Is it just the cleanURL test that fails in the diagnostics tab (which TXP version?) or have you really tried clean URLs on your website?

Its the latest version of Text Pattern i am using, and yes i have had clean url’s on these servers. I have sites in Joomla and Wordpress that have clean URL’s to name just two.
