Newbie Q - Integrating into existing site
Hi, i’ve a site currently running into which i want to integrate textpattern. All i want is to be able to create articles in textpattern and have them display in a specific place on my existing site.
Is this possible please, is textpattern the right tool for this?
Thanks

Re: Newbie Q - Integrating into existing site
well..you’d have to place your site ‘within’ a textpattern setup first, and then yes you could do that :)

as mary kindly pointed to the faq, i would say no. textpattern is a content management system. moving your site ‘within’ textpattern is pretty simple and definitely has more advantages than vice versa. its mainly a matter of installing textpattern, cutting and pasting your html/css design so your site will look exactly like how you want it, and placing simple textpattern code into the places where you want your articles to be.

display in a specific place…
If you mean a specific place on your window layout, then what the others say applies.*
If by a specific place you mean a section/subsection of your site, then of course you can install textpattern in a subdirectory, e.g. news, and have it manage that section (and anything below it). The rest of your site can be static and stay as it is.
*I suppose if your needs were not complex, you could read in a rss-feed generated by textpattern onto your homepage. You’d need another script on your homepage to parse the feed and display it accordingly.
