The trouble is, ecommerce doesn’t have an equivalent of a Textpattern CMS, or Wordpress blog, or PunBB forum, or Mediawiki wiki, or ezlmn mailing list. Open source ecommerce is, to be blunt, crappy in every meaning of the word. So right now, there is no easy solution to this.

Magento looks promising, no?

Re: Textpattern and Shopping Cart

thanks epsilon for that link as I would have never come across it otherwise :)

looks like an interesting project. i am just hoping that txp has a good solution soon as one is in development.

until then CubeCart looks like a good compromise.

Yup, Magento seems quite interesting. I’ll follow it, see where it goes.

http://www.magentocommerce.com/ is coming out in August — it looks extremely promising. Integrating it with TXP might be difficult, but I’m sure you guys can figure it out.

Re: Textpattern and Shopping Cart

Even without TXP integration, if a good, clean, secure eshop software that support utf-8 and valid semantic html or xhtml, get out, I’m happy.

One concern I have with Magento, they seem to want to do it all at once. But, we’ll see.

Re: Textpattern and Shopping Cart

The plug-in for TXP is still under development. There are other solutions on the market that can be skinned and integrated into a TXP site. I was just after advice on how others have gone about integrating TXP and commerce projects.

The magentocommerce project is interesting because they are looking to bring something new to the commerce world for designers.
