Importing Wordpress to Textpattern
Hi, I love Textpattern and recently decided to switch back from WordPress, encouraged by the beautiful templates I was starting to see for Textpattern as previously the only “pretty” and “fun” templates I could find were for WordPress. I exported my WordPress entries, comments and categories using the WordPress export tool, and scrapped the entire thing to make way for Textpattern (as, like I say, it was to replace WP). Now I am totally stumped. I’ve tried Google, and all I can find is how to import Textpattern to WordPress and I searched the FAQ, but all I found was that it was possible to import WordPress to Textpattern but not specifically what to do. Needless to say, I’m lost so if anyone could provide any help, that would be wonderful.
Thanks!

Re: Importing Wordpress to Textpattern
Hi, okay, so I set up a new WP blog and imported my old WP entries into it and then I filled in the info required to import into TXP, but I’m not clear on what I’m supposed to put for mysql host… and pressing the little “?” just says there’s 7 results to my search but doesn’t tell me what those results are… Once again, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Re: Importing Wordpress to Textpattern
your mysql host is the name given to you by your web host provider. theres no way for anyone here to tell you what it is. typically its something like ‘localhost’ or something similar. if you installed textpattern then one of the steps should have been to ask what your mysql host address was. it should be the same one if you’re using the same web host.

Re: Importing Wordpress to Textpattern
Thanks so much gamma. My host is wonderful, but I didn’t want to bother her with this question, as she is away and it would take sometime to get the answer (and obviously, with 100+ old entries the blog looked sort of, well, empty without them!). All went well, however, I stupidly forgot to select which section I wanted the lot in, so now I’m going through the proccess of putting them in sections! Thanks again!

Re: Importing Wordpress to Textpattern
Remember that there is the mass-edit feature at the bottom of the articles tab that let’s you change sections, so that shouldn’t take long. :)
