what is article uid?
$thisarticle[‘uid’] to be exact. Is it from past or is it from future? It’s for feeds, right?
(could there be a separate “ask a dev“subforum?)

Re: what is article uid?
- Current/future, and yes, it is for feeds.
- Just ask in the “How Do I…? & Other Questions” forum. If we start getting a lot of questions we can make a forum for them later.

Re: what is article uid?
(k, thought the separation was a bit “under the hood” and “these are the pedals”.)
Thanks. There’s two things I’m thinking of..
- If I import/generate articles from non-TXP source I generate an a-ui.
- If I import articles from TXP should I keep the a-ui? I can’t see reason why. (I only read feeds – I don’t do them..)
Care to advice on exporting? I was first going MT-esque way but the format feels a bit awkward for txp2txp transfer.. The plugin installation way is a tempting idea – what if I serialise+base64? That would open some nice possibilites IMHO. I wonder if there’s some scaling problems with that +30% extra data – prolly not many with under 50 articles. (moving articles is a chore. I’m thinking stretching this to forms aswell..)
I haven’t thought about comments, categories or authors yet. 200 articles I need transfering don’t use them and are by single author. Then again, if I shift focus from “1:1 articles backup” to “moving content” this export/import ad hoc is taking a plugin twist soon.
I’ve taken zem’s (?) mt_import.php as sort of starting point as I find it most elegant of import scripts.

I’m confused, are you asking about importing from an MT blog to Textpattern or something else?

Exporting data from TXP to import it in another TXP.

Re: what is article uid?
Er, that’s kind of redundant, why don’t you simply export/import the database?
