That’s fresh – quite mental and possibly brilliant, tho I can’t quite decide because I can’t really get me head around it ;o
Either way, it’s nice to see something a bit different on here – it sure shows off the flexibility of Txp. Nice work.

… I know you…

Thank you. It’s showcasing rather personal stuff and the tempo of the site is willingly slow: lots of hidden stuff, different levels of reading… I did not thought about it as a click and go-fast site. One has to take time to visit the place.
In some aspects it’s like a cd. One would switch to different areas-atmospheres using the nav: 1,2,3,4 etc… With possible variations inside each section: 1.1, 1.2…
Tip1: press M on your keyboard to have a view of inspiring materials, my playlist for each image.
Tip2: press O on your keyboard and have access to some options for each page.
Tip3: press K on your keyboard will give you an overview of all keyboard shortcuts used on the site.

Thank you Peter…
Content was quick to build, to choose and very pleasant to place inside the site once everything worked fine.

Re: Hablablow playground
As I tried to treat Hablablow in a different way Txp is usally used, I thought about sharing some of my experiences with it.
Building Hablablow with Txp was relatively easy compared to the mess of achieving cross-browser styles and dealing with javascript peculiarities for each User-Agent.
Trickiest part of Txp was to setup a navigation based only on sections and categories and to trigger all the different layouts from within the article tab only.
Here’s a quick list of the plugin used on the site:- ako_nav: Used for the main numeric nav. Ako was very nice to bring some changes I requested, especially to be able to list sections that would not yet be active. Cheers Ako !
- asy_jpcache: Sencer has adapted this caching system for Txp giving you the ability to cache your pages in a temporary folder until a period has expired or an article posted. Cached pages are therefore served as files and not requested to the database each time a user connects to the site. Neat, this made Hablablow fly at rocket speed.
- cbs_category_list: Rather than using category_list wich would output all categories in every context this one gives the ability to list only categories used in a section, a section-sensitive list of categories. I use it to build variations for each section: Section 5 has for example 4 variations / pages named 5.1, 5.2, 5.3, 5.4. Quick and convenient to setup from the category tab. I use them actually as somekind of sub-sections.
- ptv_if: This one was certainly the most usefull in my case to trigger all the different layout and special cases all around my site. Too bad you could not nest these statements but incredibely usefull as you can setup if else statements for almost every native Txp tags or plugin tags. Used in conjunction with chh_article_custom and I could organize all articles according to the special cases / layouts from within the write tab.
- chh_article_custom: A powerful replacement for the native Txp article_custom tag, with more options to filter articles across sections or categories.
- gbp_permanent_links: Used to achieve my url scheme based only on sections / categories.
- snt_weather_0.2: Used to display the weather conditions from where I live on the home page. For the Home page I wanted to have something in progress, random images. I rebuilt so all opriginal weather visuals to something more personal. The result is the image shown on the home page, rotating whether it’s raining, night, snowing etc…
- upm_category_image: Used to build the inspiration page. Each page, each image on the site has a different playlist associated, related. You can access theses different playlists everyhere by pressing M key on your keyboard. On the Inspirations page you can have a global view of all the covers / inspiring materials used on the site. Mary’s plugin allows, when I upload all covers and put them all in the same image category, to display these images in one place, grouped.
- upm_datetime: Displays the current time of your server, nice if you want to give your visitors an idea of your local time.
- upm_restrict_comment_size: I use comments only in a Guestbook section. As I have a special layout there, I could not have very long comments. This restricts the comments length to a number of words or signs.
- zem_article_image: I use a custom version of this plugin to output a link for each inspiring material, cover, pointing to the artists name / work title on Google. Just clic any cover and you’ll be sent to Google to request related information.
- Rss / Atom: I had to hack the feeds core Txp files to again there make my url scheme work and point to categories instead of linking to the article titles.
Again yes, Txp is very flexible and easy to customize with all the plugins around and because it’s core files are very clear and very well organized.
BUT Txp lacks into providing more flexible variations on site structures. I mean having the ability to build many nested section or more than 2 levels of categories for a site.
I had also hard times dealing with categories and I found Txp poor to manage content based on them. Applying conditionnals to trigger some content whether this or that category was matched would fail quite often. I found that the keywords field was much more efficient to do this job.
I hope these explanations of the way I did it with Txp can give some of you out there ideas for your sites.

Re: Hablablow playground
I know Hablablow is not fresh news, since it has been released almost a year ago, but I just wanted to drop these few lines, since this has been done using / inside Txp…
Many of you, on MacIntel computers, might not have been able to experience the many directions of chapter 7, built upon the Shockwave plugin. Adobe has released last week, after 2 long years, the Shockwave 11 player, so you can now play with those little toys.
Get the plugin here
Play with the toys from here
April desktop calendar is also available for you to download.
Check it out here
Remember Hablablow is a contant work in progress… So check back.
Cheers.
