Slow Runtime (10+ secs)

I have no idea whats happening; already tried to disabled the DNS lookup, disabled the logging; I even had tried to revert to a fresh copy of TXP, but everytime when I open an article with comments attached, the runtime will shoot up to more than 10 secs!

On the main page was fast enough (less than 1 sec) but when I view the comments it will slow down. On articles where comments are disabled, the runtime is back to normal, so I think there is a problem with the comment part, but I have no idea how to trace it down. I’m testing on my own local server.

One more weird thing I noticed is, when I have no internet connection, the runtime is back to normal as well. So, is the comment part got anything to do with internet connection?

Some general info here:
http://textpattern.com/faq/136/diagnosing-performance-problems

We’ll need to see a tagtrace to give more specific advice.

Re: Slow Runtime (10+ secs)

Thanks, Cyrus, we can rule out any problems with the db or with excessive queries.

What happens when you disable all plugins and php-snippets you may have, do you see any difference? Are you using anything like gravatars or the like?

Can you also post your diagnostic info for us, please?

Re: Slow Runtime (10+ secs)

Thanks for the fast responds.

As I had mentioned before, the runtime was still very slow even I install a fresh copy of Txp.

Anyway, I haven’t upload to my host yet. I’m still testing in my local server (which is my computer); so I suspect something wrong with the configuration on my Apache/MySQL server. I’m using WAMP which automatically setup all the server settings on my computer so maybe there are some sort of misconfigure somewhere.

Well, hopefully you guys could help me figure out the problem, thanks in advance. :)

Re: Slow Runtime (10+ secs)

In advanced preferences, try turning off “Spam blacklists (comma-separated)” by emptying the textbox. Lookups in spam blacklists are effectively dns-lookups.

Re: Slow Runtime (10+ secs)

wow, Sencer, you saved my day. :)

Runtime reduced to 2 secs from the original 10 secs.

Still a bit slow comparing to the standard range (0.1~0.5 secs)…

Any idea what else option slowing down the runtime of comments?
