Re: [archived] Postmaster -- A simple email-on-post / newsletter manager
OpalCat: you should update to the latest zem_contact_reborn. I don’t think there are any changes you will need to make — If you do run into any changes, please keep notes so that we can let other people know. As far as the forms go — they are pretty much infinitely customizable. If you simply want to remove the “This is Spam” checkbox entirely, you can just leave that tag (<txp:zem_contact_checkbox label="This is not Spam. " />) out of the form. That would make your new form:
<txp:zem_contact to="AggregatorTest@benbruce.com" >
<txp:zem_contact_email name="zemSubscriberEmail" label="Your Email:" />
<INPUT TYPE=CHECKBOX NAME="zemSubscriberAggregate[]" value="benbruce" checked="yes" >benbruce<br />
<INPUT TYPE=CHECKBOX NAME="zemSubscriberAggregate[]" value="utility">utility<br />
<INPUT TYPE=CHECKBOX NAME="zemSubscriberAggregate[]" value="random">random<br />
<txp:zem_contact_submit />
</txp:zem_contact>

Re: [archived] Postmaster -- A simple email-on-post / newsletter manager
Ok this is running great on my site, so I installed it on my mom’s site and… it no worky. Subscriptions work ok, but when we go to send either a test message or send a message to the list, the second window with the progress status never opens. Rather, the article edit page just reloads and nothing gets sent. Ideas?

Re: [archived] Postmaster -- A simple email-on-post / newsletter manager
Could it be something as simple as not having pop-ups allowed on thebrowser?
That caused me some angst for an hour or two. ;-)
Cheers

No, I’m using the same browser as I do when I’m looking at my own site, where it works fine.

Any ideas? My mom has events she needs to send notices out about and this isn’t sending anything.

Re: [archived] Postmaster -- A simple email-on-post / newsletter manager
Sorry OpalCat, not sure how to help here. There must be some difference between the server your Web site is on, and the server your mom’s Web site is on (if you are positive there are no differences in your setups).

Re: [archived] Postmaster -- A simple email-on-post / newsletter manager
I host my mom’s site on my own server. My site is in the folder /home/vhosts/opalcat/www and hers is in /home/vhosts/tucsonirishcommunity/www … they’re set up exactly the same way.

So, I may conclude that there is something between gbp_permanent_link/Postmaster (and maybe, ZCR), and seems to not be related to pap_contact_cleaner.

no idea why PM and Graeme’s plugin wouldn’t work together. I’ll add that to the manual.
Good news – I’ve finally fixed this issue between the plugins in version 0.11.617 :)

Re: [archived] Postmaster -- A simple email-on-post / newsletter manager
Thanks, graeme. It seems to work perfectly.
Also, I share this with all PM users:
<txp:zem_contact to="youremail@yourwebsite.com" >
<txp:zem_contact_text name="zemSubscriberName" label="name" /><br />
<txp:zem_contact_email name="zemSubscriberEmail" label="e-mail" /><br />
<txp:zem_contact_textarea label="message" cols="60" /><br />
<txp:zem_contact_checkbox label="I want to subscribe." name="zemDoSubscribe" checked="yes" required="no" /><br />
<txp:zem_contact_submit label="send" />
</txp:zem_contact>
This is an alternative to the both Subscription / Contact Form.
It’s just have a checkbox to be subscribed. (It doesn’t have the dropdown select nor the anti-SPAM checkbox.)

Re: [archived] Postmaster -- A simple email-on-post / newsletter manager
Ops!
The above form doesn’t works correctly.
Even when the checkbox is unchecked, the user is being subscribed!
(I think I have tried this some months ago and also didn’t worked for me at that time).
Any idea what could it be?

Re: [archived] Postmaster -- A simple email-on-post / newsletter manager
Just to confirm that the original form (Subscription / Contact Form from PM Manual) works fine in both cases: when subscribe is selected and also when it’s not selected.
I can’t see what could be the differences between both forms.

Re: [archived] Postmaster -- A simple email-on-post / newsletter manager
maniqui,
I think I went through the same headbanging when I was first trying to find a solution to the “subscription and/or subscribe form” — the difference lies in the fact that an HTML checkbox will not post any information if it isn’t checked. Weird. There was no easy solution to that, that I could come up with, which is why I went with the dropdown menu as a solution.
OpalCat,
Sorry you were having trouble with the plugin … another question for you: Is your mom’s Web site on a subdomain or anything like that? Also, here is a page in the Postmanual that offers some alternatives.- Ben

Re: [archived] Postmaster -- A simple email-on-post / newsletter manager
Hi Ben. Thanks for your reply.
Yes, you are right about that… some time ago my boss explained me that fact about checkboxes (that doesn’t send any information in the request, or something similar)…
In the meanwhile, I will try with two radio buttons (yes/no). Do you think it will work?

Re: [archived] Postmaster -- A simple email-on-post / newsletter manager
It’s been a while so I can’t remember why I decided on a dropdown. But as long as the value being sent by the radio buttons corresponds to the values being sent by the dropdown, it should work fine. Does that make sense?

Hi Ben,
Please, could you take a look at my post in the ZCR thread?
Two post below that one you will find ruud’s reply, asking something about Postmaster.
Thanks in advance.
