Undefined index

Hello,

Uploading new images to TXP results in the following error message:

Notice: Undefined index: thefile in /var/www/web12/html/textpattern/include/txp_image.php on line 336

I’ve cross-checked line 336 with my other working TXP installations and couldn’t find differences. What’s wrong? Pictures 1-5 uploaded correctly.

That’s kind of odd. If the index is undefined, the upload shouldn’t have worked. But there’s no reason for that array index to be undefined either.

Would you post your diagnostics results?

It doesn’t mean anything is deeply wrong – the upload did work – but I am curious.

Please note: The Domain is registered at a another ISP than the webspace is. The domain mediwil.de points directly to the webspace under web12.admin.webjanssen.de. I don’t know if this helps but maybe it does.

You say pictures 1-5 uploaded correctly.
Does this error only occur for image 6 and higher or did it also occur on the upload of the first 5 images?
Do the images get uploaded correctly, despite the error?
Have you checked the permissions on the image directory (how is that configured and who owns the directory)?

Yes, it occurs for image 6 and because it does not work I cannot upload further images. When I try to upload the picture the error message is displayed but nothing is uploaded. The permissions on the image directory are set to 777.

A few questions:

Can you successfully upload a file on the files tab or does also fail (and if so, which error do you get)?
If you download one of the images you’ve already uploaded (one of the first 5) and try to upload that image again (as the 6th image), does that also fail?
This list of images in TXP, which IDs does it show, just 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 or something else?
The other TXP installation you have, which don’t have this problem, are they hosted on the same server or somewhere else?
Have you tried uploading with a different browser (which one are you using?) or from a different computer?

just a long shot: have you checked to see if there’s an error in the database. Make a db backup first, then try repairing the tables in phpmyadmin or whatever you use. Maybe it’s coughing there if the directory permissions are fine.

They’re hosted on the same server.

Just tried to repair the table in phpmyadmin. Repair status is ‘OK’ but error still occurs…

It shows the numbers 1-5.

Have you tried uploading with a different browser (which one are you using?) or from a different computer?
Somebody else did with Internet Explorer I think. I always use Safari and in some rare cases Firefox.
