Transferring Txp from one installation to another

Hey there..

Hopefully this will be a quick & easy question / answer.

At the moment, I do all my development on my USB Pen drive. I’ve recently started another design for a new website which will be using txp. I’ve set it up on Pen drive as i dont actually have access to the server yet. Besides, i prefer to run it on my pen drive before going live with anything.

Now, once i’ve got the whole site design, content, sections blah blah sorted and approved, is there an easy way of transferring it from the txp installation on my USB drive to another txp installation on the server?

ie. can i export all the posts, images and settings from one, and import them into another?

All help greatly appreciated :)

There’s a page on Textbook dealing with importing/exporting/moving Textpattern sites (do not fear, it’s simple).

Thanks wet!

That page explains how to move from a (live) server to a localhost, but not vice-versa.. Would the general idea be the same?

Yes. If your localhost is also configured like a normal webserver, it doesn’t really matter in which direction you move the TXP installation.
