Is Text Pattern right for me ?
Hi people,
I am new to TextPattern and reason why I am here is because other CMS like Joomla or Blogs like WordPress betrayed my expectations …
I am somewhat looking for a software which is more robust and gives my freedom of programming and designing … and also allows me to distinguish them well.
Would testPattern act as both Blog and CMS ?
I can also write php code and I know that for sure I have to make my own module for the site in PHP; would TP allow this easily ?
I like to design and often bit complex and multi-paged ? would TP allow me to handle it ?
This is one of my site that is waiting to be incorporated into CMS … please have a look :- http://www.rpgcc.com
Please enlighten me with your valuable suggestions.
Thanks.

Your sample site is surely buildable with Textpattern. Textpattern isn’t restricting the way your site looks at all.
You might browse both the samples built by others here on the forum and the Textpattern Magazine Site Gallery to get an impression of what’s built with Textpattern as a content management system.

Re: Is Text Pattern right for me ?
i felt like bigging up textpattern tonight so i did a search for wordpress and found this thread. after starting my first textpattern blog this year, i was a little frustrated with how it handles multimedia and was looking back at wordpress for its extensive plugin database.
well needless to say, the actual design of my next blog is meant to be simple and my patience was thin for wordpress again. very thin. i went back to textpattern to design my second blog and since i worked past a learning curve on the first time around i was able to get the second blog up very fast. so even though it doesnt feature the fancy widgets that other cms blog systems do, i’d say the ease of use in making your own theme instantly is something that will make txp the blog software for people watch in coming years.
imo all it needs is better handling of user accounts including profile creation and community tools, as well better handling of multimedia enclosures built right into the core. of course if you want those things they are readily available with drupal but it’s not easy to use.
