DJ Hellion.com
Includes news (a blog), sections with static pages, events, audio, galleries, and the contact form.
I think I covered about all the bases.
Several plugins were indispensable. (Plugins with stars are one I beelive should be a part of basic TxP functionality):
- chh_article_custom *
- chh_article_lib *
- jnm_audio
- rss_auto_excerpt *
- rss_thumbpop
- upm_file
- upm_file_popper
- upm_image
- upm_img_popper
- zem_contact_lang *
- zem_contact_reborn *
- zem_posted *

Re: DJ Hellion.com
Somehow off topic, although of serious interest:
I constantly keep wondering what makes site owners/builders think that moving a plugin’s functionality into the core would be a positive move per se.
Taking zem_contact(_reborn) as a test subject:
- This plugin is in no way restricted in its functionality by not being part of the core.
- Its development cycle is a lot shorter than Textpattern’s, new releases occur more frequent. This is a god thing, as updating a plugin is a smaller task for the larger fraction of the site owners than updating the core system, and easier to revert if thing go awry.
- It is a natural born spam target, which requires fast adaptions to fight attacks from the dark side of the web.
- zem_contact(_reborn) is/was actively developed by two members of the Textpattern core developer team, so there’s no difference in “human factors”.
The only reason for adding zem_contact_reborn to the core code would be to award it some official “sign of approval”, which wouldn’t make a difference for anyone involved.
Thoughts?

It represents functionality I think should come with the CMS instead of requiring mystic Google and TxP-fu to find and install. It’s basic stuff. Don’t care how it would be distributed. You could have an install that came with the plugins already installed.
One things for certain, I realy enjoy TextPattern, but it’s learning curve and user interface could be much simpler. I.e. they’re unnecessarily complex.
I’ve considered volunteering to help improve it on both fronts, but my impression from the various discussions about the quality and direction of TextPattern is that core developers feel very protective of their baby. I totally understand. It is their baby, but it could stand to grow up some, cut it’s hair, and get a real job.
I guess, I’ll just wander over to the developers forum and talk about helping.
I do love TxP. I’ve been using it since Dean first released it.
