Re: Got my copy of Textpattern Solutions today
I got mine today!
It’s so cool to see those familiar names. Like it was written by people I know.
Thanks all. It’s been a treat to watch Txp grow up.

Re: Got my copy of Textpattern Solutions today
I downloaded the e-book today. I intended to print it, but gee… 545 pages! It seems very complete :) I read the introduction and part of the first chapter, and it’s pleasant and easy reading.
Thank you, writers and contributors!
(I am going to print it some day, I want this on my bookshelf!)

Re: Got my copy of Textpattern Solutions today
It’s a good book, but I think it’s misleading to say “Create several different types of website easily, including e-commerce sites”. The section on e-commerce sites assumes you’re a php expert capable of integrating 3 party software into textpattern.

It doesn’t give code snippets, advices, plugin and the like to build it solely by using TXP? Sshh…

Re: Got my copy of Textpattern Solutions today
Cart and checkout pages are built using “wfCart”:htp://www.webforcecart.com. Like I said, overall I think this is a good book, but the e-commerce bit is there just to sell the book.

Looks great. You could earn a bit of if that was an Amazon affiliate link ;-)

Re: Got my copy of Textpattern Solutions today
from Textpattern Solutions p. 17:
At the time of this writing, there is a fairly extensive calendar plugin in development by Team Textpattern. The process was started by Matthew Smith, a Philadelphia-based designer at Artiswork. He sought to fill a perceived gap in many CMSs—the capability to produce a navigable schedule of events for several months, years or decades…
By the time this book is on store shelves, the plugin will be completed…
Does anyone have additional information about this?

Thanks, Ruud. That’s just the info I was needing. I’ll check it out.
