Anyone Using Media Temple and Textpattern.
Hey all. The non existent customer support of Textdrive is forcing me to switch hosts.
Does anyone use Media Temple with textpattern 4.04? I used to use them and like them. The have a phone number that a real person answers. That real person talks to you and helps you solve your problem.

Matt,
I do. They seem to be doing good work on the Grid Server. They’ve admittedly had problems recently, but they seem steadfast in getting the issues solved. I’m not regretting it at this point.

As do I. I run my main site and quite a few others on MT.
I love their GS. I’ve gotten some pretty cool deployment solutions and applications built on top of their service.

Thanks all. I will be calling them up soon. Does anyone have any suggestions for switching over with the least amount of downtime?
I know dns stuff can take a few days.

Matt – check out Site5 before buying MT. I bought the two year MultiSite plan, since it’s cheaper than a year of Media Temple hosting. Only 15GB of space, but that’s a ton of room IMO.

I’m also currently using media temple.
I was previously on textdrive but their 5 domain limit on the cheapest plan (their second-best plan ($50/month) is stupidly expensive) got me searching for an alternative host.
So far I’m very happy and their knowledge base is pretty complete.
I’m still sad to have left textdrive though.

I have been a happy user of Dreamhost for many many years on my personal site and many more. They did go through a really rough patch last year, and I stopped recommending them. But it all seems good now… and i recommend them again … you got a gabizillion more features/space/bandwidth ..
On recent site I have been using MediaTemple and i am really happy with them… their Control Panel is allot nicer… so far so good. Not completely sold but I had to see what all the hype (GridServer) was about…
SO in summary … if you can afford the extra $$ MediaTemple is worth checking out … otherwise there are cheaper options that give you more bell and whistles…

I’ve read that Site5 is experiencing problems at the moment. Is this the case for you jm?

Site5 is moving all their servers to The Planet, this is causing some issues for people.

Haven’t noticed any yet. Granted, the sites have been relatively dormant, but Montastic hasn’t reported much downtime (two instances within the past week at ~9AM for a few minutes on titans).

They replied promptly to a couple of questions I had.
