I gave my feelings about Textpattern’s goodness in the original complaint thread. As for the issues people have raised, I think the devs did a good job (despite some initial prickliness) of addressing concerns with follow-up posts and a new blog entry.
In the spirit of Tim Bray’s reaction to Microsoft’s patent posturing, I have a four-word response for the people who are still whining: Patch, fork, or leave.
If nobody’s said it before, I’d like to propose Messinger’s Axiom of Open Source Popularity:
You know an open source project has become successful when community members start bitching about the way it’s managed or threatening to fork.
