Regarding the image management: I haven’t created any fancy stuff at all. I upload the medium-sized image in TXP and it creates the thumbnail on the fly. Then I upload the large image via FTP and rename it to match the id of the medium image – if the medium image has the id ‘23’ (and also the filename ‘23.xxx’), then I would rename the large image to ‘23l.xxx’. Then I create the article and use a custom field to output the large image name.
To create the “lightbox” I use the jQuery-framework (available at www.jquery.com) and a small script (which I call “Slickbox”) based on the Thickbox-script (found at jquery.com/demo/thickbox/).
All navigation is styled with plain old CSS. I’m using standard next/prev-links to turn the pages.
