How does the search work? Can I search on custom fields?
Hello,
I see there are some nice tags like <txp:if search>
and <txp:search_result_count />
, but I don’t quite understand where to use them. (I haven’t quite got the hang of Textpattern’s organisation methods…)
I am able to get a search result, on occasion… for some reason I set up a ‘search’ Section (I think a theme told me to :)) (section name and title are both ‘search’)
and I see there is a Form called search_results, but it looks as if it just contains the layout for one result. So I guess this one is called by something else, somewhere…
I don’t have any Articles or Pages called ‘search’… which one should I be trying to make?
Secondly – it seems like the contents of custom fields aren’t included in the search. Is there any way to search on those fields?
thanks in advance,
Brianna

Hi Brianna
custom fields are not searchable as that affects the speed of txp.

Thanks els, that got me started (although I had to read a google cached copy of the article :)).
to ricetxp, I would prefer not to hack the core. a nice “advanced search” option where you can choose fields to search on would be nice… ah well :)
