Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] vdh_flickr

You can do that with sets, here’s the tag: <txp:vdh_flickr_thumbnails latest="x" set="1234567" /> Get the set # from your Flickr account.

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] vdh_flickr

don’t think so bud – according to the docs it’s

set=“1234567” The number of the set you want to show.
OR:
tags=“tag1,tag2” List of tags that should be displayed.
OR:
latest=“20” Show the latest 20 pics.

also doesn’t work in practice ;)

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] vdh_flickr

yep – but then it’s latest X from all sets…

using sets (collections now) for different subjects & calling them into the appropriate page on the Txp website… but some sets now have a lot of photos, and would rather just show the latest 20 or so

I think Flickr puts some restrictions on how you can call feeds from its site…

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] vdh_flickr

I also can’t get that working like I thought it would. I can get it working to show a random="x" amount of photos from set="1234567", try that, should be better than nothing. Surprised that the latest photos thing didn’t work though.

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] vdh_flickr

Ralph, the photo galleries would be much more relevant to Google if you gave all the thumbnails alt attributes with the image title, also it would be nice for mouseovers to see what the photos are about. I noticed this is already done for the next / prev links when viewing individual images, and I think it would be great if you could do it for all the thumbnails when viewing sets AND tagged photo groups.

How’s it going with you? Any free time in the foreseeable future for development of the features we had talked about before?

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] vdh_flickr

i keep getting the infamous “Failed to connect to flickr.com!” message. i’m wondering wheter this is due to some php feature i might be missing.
these are my active extensions:

PHP extensions: libxml, xsl/0.1, xmlwriter/0.1, xmlrpc/0.51, dom/20031129, xmlreader/0.1, xml, session, pcre, SimpleXML, SPL, standard/5.2.2-pl1-gentoo, Reflection, mysqli/0.1, mysql/1.0, mcrypt, mbstring, iconv, gettext, gd, dba, date/5.2.2-pl1-gentoo, curl, ctype, zlib/1.1, openssl, apache2handler

i am using Txp 4.0.4 (r1956), Apache-2.0.58, mysql-5.0.40, php-5.2.2
can someone with a working vdh_flickr post his relevant “diagnostic info” segment?

thanks a lot

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] vdh_flickr

Have you set the option to use php5 in the plugin code? I don’t know if that’s necessary but worth trying. I’m using PHP4, and here’s my diagnostics:

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] vdh_flickr

still no luck.
might be a php-5.2 incompatibility, missing extensions or whatever.
there’s no way to debug the error, just that “Failed to connect to flickr.com!” and i have no php skills to investigate the code properly.

here’s my full diagnostics, any hint is welcome.
(in the meantime i updated txp to the latest svn)

regards

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] vdh_flickr

@aswihart: Not so much free time in the near future, I will have more time in August.

@harri: Your PHP version looks fine, the only extension used is SimpleXML. But since this is a custom Gentoo server, is DNS set up properly? I’m just asking, because for connecting to the Flickr API, the box needs to be able to resolve DNS requests.

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] vdh_flickr

SOLVED!
the allow_url_fopen directive in php.ini was set to Off
this is usually on, but gentoo defaults it to Off
Maybe the need for allow_url_fopen should be included in the documentation, to avoid a few headaches like mine..

now everything works like charm
Thanks everybody!

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] vdh_flickr

Thanks, and a question:

First off, thanks to Ralph for your work on this excellent plug-in. I’m about to launch a new (version of ) my site that owes a ton to vdh_flickr. You can preview it here: http://gilford.textdrive.com/~lunaport/photos/.

I’ve noticed, however, that the date taken time is different from what I seen in at Flickr. For instance, on this photo (http://gilford.textdrive.com/~lunaport/photos/set/72157600329068680/img/536434680) the time is 03:24 AM, but when I go to “Edit the photo date” at flickr.com, it displays 08:24, the correct time.

I suspect it is no coincidence that the difference, 5 hours, is the same as the difference between my current time zone (CDT) and GMT. Is it possible that the Flickr API has changed the way it treats time? Does vdh_flickr need (or already have) time zone support? Have I missed something obvious?
